A seven-year-old girl from Palestine sadly lost her life by suffocating in a gas leak at her home.

Her death was announced by the spokesman for Al-Mizan Specialised Hospital, Dr Sherif Al-Tardi, on Wednesday, 4th January, following a failed resuscitation attempt.

Seven-year-old Salma Jawdat Hatem Hassouna, who had suffocated after a gas boiler leak in her home in Hebron, Palestine, was reportedly brought into the hospital by her parents without showing signs of life.

When she arrived, little Salma’s heart had already stopped and her lungs had failed, Dr Al-Tardi told local media.

Medical staff at the hospital tried everything they could to bring the girl back to life but to no avail.

Dr Al-Tardi said that Salma was sadly brought in too late, so she could not be saved.

Following the tragic event, the local police and the Public Prosecution have announced an open investigation into the circumstances of Salma’s untimely death.
