A Turkish woman who told her boyfriend she wanted to end the relationship was stabbed, tortured and sexually assaulted before being dumped half-naked on the ground in a sack by her ex-boyfriend – who drove over her in his car to make sure she was dead.

The shocking details of the attempted murder which the young woman incredibly survived were presented by prosecutors at an attempted murder trial at the Bakirkoy 8th High Criminal Court.

It was stated that the defendant Emre Cicek, 25, had taken his girlfriend Rabia Kacmaz, also 25, to a fish restaurant in Florya district of the north-western Turkish city of Istanbul in a rented car on 6th February 2019.

During the meal, she had told him that she was unhappy in the relationship and wanted to end it, and that while the discussion was ongoing he had driven her to the textile workshop where he was employed telling her he had a surprise for her.

He told her that she needed to cover up her eyes and he used black tape to give her the surprise, and then tied her hands with plastic cuffs and then bound her feet and kneecaps.

She said he then told her: “I brought you here to punish you, you will not be able to get out of here. I will tear you to pieces here.”

The accused had then given her the chance to say farewell to her mother on the phone before he then started to torture her.

He had stabbed her in the kidney, sexually assaulted her and then tried to choke her with a pillow. Later he had covered her with a blanket and left the building but returned a few minutes later when he put her in a sack, and put that in the trunk of his car.

He then drove to a nearby lake when he put the sack on the ground with the woman still in it, and after kicking her with his foot to see if she was still alive, had then driven over her in his car to make sure she was finished off.

He then turned himself into police, believing that she was dead, but they found her tied up in the bag half naked and still alive.

She was hospitalised in intensive care where she spent a long time before she could be discharged from hospital.

He faces up to 53 years in jail for attempted murder with prejudice, kidnapping and sexual assault.

He was remanded in custody while prosecution and defence prepare their statements on the proposed sentence.
