This is the moment an electrician likened to Spider-Man helps save a 5-year-old who trapped himself outside the burglar bars of his sixth-floor home after being left home alone.

The boy climbed out the window security bars in search of his parents, the child’s father Mr Chen revealed.

The heart-stopping incident was captured by neighbours inside the Bihai Zijincheng Residential District in Fangchenggang City, which is in China’s southern Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

In the video, the struggling child can be seen standing on the outside of the high-riser tower block while clinging with both hands to the burglar bars around his head.

He seemingly managed to squeeze out of the security bars but could not fit his head during his attempted escape on 30th July.

He was reportedly seen by a cleaner, who alerted building management, who then in turn attempted to contact the child’s family.

Unable to reach his parents, staff members called a locksmith, but electrician Zhang Wenju sprung into action when witnesses noticed the boy beginning to grow tired.

Fearing that the child may fall, residents stood below with a blanket, while Zhang climbed out from the sixth-floor stairwell window and walked to the boy.

In the video, he can be seen steadying the boy using his own body until rescuers enter the home, prise open a gap in the burglar bars, and then lift the child back inside.

Neither the boy nor Mr Zhang was injured.

Mr Chen said the boy was sleeping when they locked the door and left the home.

He believes his son was searching for his family members and climbed out the window with the help of a chair.

“If it weren’t for Mr Zhang and the other Good Samaritans, who knows what would’ve happened,” the grateful parent said.

Social media users have dubbed Mr Zhang ‘Spider-Man’.

Just one day before the incident, video emerged of a three-year-old boy in China’s south-western municipality of Chongqing being caught using two blankets after attempting a similar stunt but falling from a height of five storeys.
