This is the moment a quick-thinking driver accelerates through his garage door after a gang of armed men ran in as he was parking and drives over one of the intruders.

The incident took place in the neighbourhood of Lindavista, in the city of Mexico City, Mexican capital when the unnamed driver was reversing into his garage.

In the video, the driver can be seen reversing into the garage when another black car comes to a halt on the road.

A gang of four thugs run out of the vehicle and can be seen sliding under the closing garage door.

Moments later the driver speeds out of the garage, running over one of the thugs and ramming into their vehicle.

Three of the thugs run away and the driver of their car also sprints away. One of them goes up to the driver of the black car who then drives away to safety.

The lone thug gets into his gang’s vehicle which is seriously damaged and drives off in the same direction as the victim.

Another angle shows how one the thugs seemingly pointed a gun at the driver after sliding into the garage before he crashes through the closing door.

Local media report the Special Prosecution for the Investigation of the Crime of Kidnapping have launched an investigation after the victim reported the gang had tried to kidnap him.

The authorities are reportedly investigating the case as an attempted kidnapping and are trying to locate the thugs. It is unclear if any arrests have been made.
