A lucky mum-of-four has won a USD 50,000 jackpot after swapping scratchcard games.
The school worker – who does not want to be named – usually plays Maryland Lottery’s USD 3 (GBP 2.4) Frogger game.
But the player – who wants to be identified only as ‘Scratch-off Queen’ – scooped her huge prize when she switched to another USD 10 (GBP 8) Gold X50 game earlier this month.
The winner – from the area of Lexington Park, in St. Mary’s County, Maryland State, USA – bought some tickets when they stopped for petrol.
She said in a statement obtained by Newsflash on Thursday, 6th April: “I didn’t win anything so I decided to get two more.
“At first, I thought I won USD 50 [GBP 40].”
But when she realised the size of her win she couldn’t believe her luck.
She said: “I quietly left.”
She told lottery officials in Baltimore she will use some of the money to pay bills.
Maryland Lottery said: “The Gold X50 game debuted in January with 10 top prizes and is part of a Gold Multiplier family of games and the Gold Multiplier second-chance promotion.
“‘Scratch-off Queen’ claimed the sixth of 10 second-tier USD 50,000 [GBP 40,186] prizes in the game.
“There are still five USD 100,000 [GBP 80,415] top prizes remaining.
“Other members of the Gold Multiplier scratch-off family are the USD 1 [GBP 0.8] Gold X5, USD 2 [GBP 1.6] Gold X10 and USD 5 [GBP 4] Gold X20 games.”
