This is the dramatic moment a driver is set alight by his passenger and he jumps from his car window on fire as his vehicle crashes into a petrol station.
CCTV cameras at the Chengguan Sinopec filling station in Qianxi County, which is in Guizhou Province in south-western China, show petrol station staff averting a larger tragedy by dousing the flames in just one minute.
The surveillance video taken yesterday (24th March) shows the vehicle barrelling towards the petrol station as the suspect leaps out the back of the out-of-control car.
The burning saloon car crashes into a diesel pump, knocking it over, while the motorist jumps out the driver’s side window with his hair and clothes completely ablaze.
As both driver and suspect sprint away out of frame, petrol station manager Feng Sufeng and his staff begin tackling the fire and bring it under control in around 60 seconds.
No others were injured as nearby customers were evacuated and the pumps were turned off, Mr Feng said.
He added: “I put out the fire and then ran over to help [the driver], dousing the flames on his body.
“The passenger seated behind him tried to harm him by setting his car on fire from the inside.
“That’s what the driver told me.”
The driver is reportedly receiving treatment at a local hospital, while Qianxi County police are investigating the case.
The authorities have yet to announce any arrests or reveal further details about the case.
