This is the moment a driver ‘cheats death’ as a bridge collapses just a few feet in front of his car.

The accident took place on Tereshkova street in the city of Orenburg in south-western Russia’s Orenburg Oblast region and was recorded by the driver’s dashboard camera.

In the footage, the car can be seen making its way down the road when it approaches a bridge overhead.

The bridge then suddenly collapses in front of the car as the driver quickly comes to a halt.

Local media report that two men were hospitalised as a result of the accident. One driver, 32, was diagnosed with a brain concussion, as well as facial wounds.

The other man ended up with bruises and wounds.

Cops have initiated a criminal case on the matter and based on primary investigation the collapse was most likely caused by a Mercedes Benz lorry full of scree crossing the bridge. It is reportedly likely that the vehicle had too much weight on it.

The bridge was reportedly undergoing renovations at the time of the incident.

The investigation is ongoing.

Netizen ‘Andrey Ilyin’ commented: “I think the only reason this bridge has collapsed is because it hasn’t been renovated for a long time.”
