This is the moment a lorry driver cheats death after CCTV footage showed a large concrete block crashing through his windscreen as he slept inside.

Light goods vehicle owner Li Feng was lying flat and facing the back of his lorry when the piece of concrete reportedly fell from the underside of a balcony on a nearby residential building.

The incident happened in the car park of the Tongda Street Railway Residential District in Harbin, capital of north-eastern China’s Heilongjiang Province, on 20th September.

The footage shows the concrete block punching a large hole in Mr Li’s lorry windscreen as it plunges from above straight into his cabin.

He said: “I’m fine but I got such a fright.

“I’m too scared to even stand there now. What if something else falls?”

Local media reports Mr Li ‘cheated death’ – and he agrees.

“I avoided injuries because I was lying down inside, with my head facing away [from the windscreen].

“Had I been sitting in my seat, I would’ve been a goner.”

According to the residential area’s management agency, concrete debris – some pieces measuring 4 inches long – fell from the balcony of the high-rise tower block.

The patches have since been mended, but the area is still cordoned off as investigations continue.

Mr Li is also in discussions with the agency regarding compensation for his damaged lorry.
