This is the moment a drink-driver jumps a red light, crashes into a taxi and flips his vehicle onto its roof in the middle of the intersection.

According to reports, one person was injured in the accident that took place in the neighbourhood of Monserrat in the eastern Argentine capital Buenos Aires.

Local media said that the car driver jumped a red light and caused the collision with a city cab.

In the footage, two cars are seen stopping at the lights as a speeding motorist appears to ignore them and drives directly into the middle of the busy intersection.

A taxi smashes into the side of the speeding car, reportedly being driven by a drink-driver, and the vehicle flips onto its roof while the cab is seen with a smashed-in front.

According to reports, the taxi driver was unhurt in the accident while the speeding motorist was taken to hospital by the emergency services where he is still undergoing tests.

Reports said that the busy road was closed while the authorities moved the damaged vehicles, causing hold ups in the capital city.

The investigation is ongoing and so far it is unclear if any of the drivers have been arrested or charged.
