A Turkish dad has been arrested for shooting his teenage daughter dead with a shotgun because he disapproved of her having a boyfriend and drinking alcohol.

According to local police, the murder took place in the Kozan district of Adana province, in southern Turkey, where the dad Kadir Tatar allegedly used a shotgun to murder his own daughter, 18-year-old Tugce Tatar.

Shockingly, shortly before her death, the young woman had posted on Facebook about the difficulties with her dad who she said did not understand her.

She wrote: “Can a father cause distress to his own child? Can a father lie to his own child? Sadly yes, in my experience he can. 

“What can you do when he tries to control your emotions? What can you do to try to break free and stand on your own feet, and yet despite all those efforts to tear yourself away to put things right, somehow nothing goes right. Instead, you feel as if you never had a father, and would never have that special person like others do with whom you can share things.” 

After the killing, the dad reportedly called his son and confessed what he had done, saying that it was an accident and that he had taken pills to claim his own life.

The son called the police, who when they arrived broke the door down to discover the dead girl’s body, and they arrested the dad.

It appears he had not taken pills as he was not taken to hospital, and under questioning he confessed that he had shot his daughter after losing his temper over her lifestyle.

He said they frequently argued about the fact that she had a boyfriend and drank alcohol, and he had finally shot her.

The body was taken to the Adana Forensic Medicine Institute for an autopsy.
