This is the horrifying moment when two gas station workers are crushed by a truck.

The men had been about to start work down a manhole at the service station in Estrutural, Brazil, on 17th May.

But a pick-up truck driver simply ploughed straight over them, crushing them underneath its enormous wheels.

He later told police his vehicle was simply too big to see them working on the ground.

Astonishingly, both men survived the crunch.

After being rescued by a team from the Military Fire Department of the Federal District (CBMDF) they were taken to the Base Hospital of the Federal District (HBDF), alive.

A brutal CCTV video of the incident shows how the two men were about to jump down a manhole to start work.

Despite warning cones around the manhole, the truck driver apparently did not see them.

The driver, 41, told police that he had been filling up his company’s vehicle with petrol.

As he came away from the fuel pump, he made a left turn, and soon after, he realised he had run over something.

After hearing screams, he backed up to check what had happened.

It was only then, reports local media, that he realised that he had crushed two people, who were next to the gas station’s supply tank manhole

The driver told police that he had not seen the victims because of the curve, the height of the car and a lack of signage.

He claimed there had been only one cone next to the hole, despite two being clearly visible in the CCTV footage.

According to the Fire Department, one of the victims, a 56-year-old man, was transported to the Base Hospital with minor injuries.

The other one, a 30-year-old man, was taken to the same hospital, but with a possible fracture of the femur and an injury to the abdomen.
