This is the moment a young mum beats her nappy-wearing daughter while changing her clothes before hanging the young child by her neck and shaking her violently.

According to the General Prosecutor’s Office in the western state of Mexico, the woman in the footage has been arrested.

It is believed the video was filmed in the Mexican city of Chilpancingo and the cameraperson will be quizzed by the authorities as part of the ongoing investigation, according to local media.

In the footage, the mother is seen roughly changing the crying girl’s clothes on a bed.

At one point, she slaps the youngster on her back hard three times and the girl, whose name and age was not mentioned, appears to lose her breath.

She then lifts her daughter by the T-shirt around her neck and appears to throttle her, shaking the youngster several times in the air before throwing her on the bed.

The mother, identified as Patricia, has been charged with domestic abuse and her daughter has been taken into care by the local authorities, according to reports.

The little girl is also being checked by doctors to establish the extent of the alleged abuse.

The investigation continues. It is currently unclear why the mother attacked her child.
