This is the moment a woman crossing a busy road is sent flying and left bleeding on the ground by a hit-and-run driver in the bus lane.

The incident was filmed by a CCTV camera on Morelos Street in the municipality of Ecatepec in the central Mexican state of Mexico and shared on social media.

In the footage, a couple is seen running across the busy street as a speeding car, reportedly driving along the bus lane, hits the woman who is sent crashing to the ground.

Meanwhile, the speeding car keeps on driving away.

In the next scene, the dazed woman is seen with bloody oozing out of her mouth while being checked by the man she was apparently crossing the street with.

Paramedics then strap both her legs and place her in an ambulance on a stretcher.

According to local media, the driver fled the scene and has yet to be tracked down by the authorities.

The victim, whose name has not been revealed, was taken to a nearby hospital with injuries to her face and legs.

The Mexican Secretariat of Public Security has advised citizens to respect all road signs as well as dedicated lanes and pedestrian crossings.

The investigation is ongoing.
