COVID Lorry Driver Nabbed Carrying 5 Tonnes Of Loo Paper

This lorry driver who ended up transporting five tonnes of toilet paper in a lorry that was legally only allowed to carry three tonnes has been fined 1,800 EUR as panic buyers stock up across Europe.

The incident happened in the city of Antwerp in Belgium, which, like the rest of the world, has seen panic buying of toilet paper, meaning delivery vehicles packing in as much as possible in order to restock the shelves.

But the driver of this lorry crossed the line when he was spotted by cops clearly carrying an excessive cargo.

They were surprised however when they pulled down the tailgate, and found that the cargo packed inside was toilet paper not noted for its excessive weight.

In total the cargo weight more than 5.6 tonnes, whereas the lorry was limited to a weight of 3.5 tons.

The police officers ordered the lorry driver to unload more than 2 tonnes of the toilet paper, and arrange for another vehicle to come to transport it to its final destination.

He was then given the fine before being allowed to continue on his way.
