Mid-Aged Brit Couple Die In Motorbike Smash In France

A British middle-aged man and woman have died in a crash in the south of France after their motorbike smashed into a car on the motorway.

The tragic accident took place yesterday (Sunday) afternoon at around 3:30pm local time on the A20 motorway in the Cieurac area, at mileage point 373 on the motorway from Toulouse to Paris in the Lot department, in the Occitanie region of south-western France. 

The collision involved the pair, who local media report were “English”, with the male rider aged 51 and his female passenger aged 60, and a car. The two bikers, the motorcyclist and his passenger, were killed after a collision with the car.

According to local media, there was heavy traffic at the time, and the motorcycle and car were approaching the Cahors-Sud toll booths when suddenly the collision occurred and the two Brits were thrown onto the pavement.

French regional daily newspaper La Depeche report that police, as well as firefighters from the nearby towns were quickly on the scene, as was a doctor and a nurse from the town of Montcuq.

However, the two victims reportedly died on the spot.

The two people who were in the car which was involved in the collision were shocked and were taken to hospital in Cahors for a checkup.

The causes of the accident are currently unclear and local authorities are investigating.
