This is the moment Mexican cops watch on as an angry mob repeatedly hit a bloodied couple on the ground who are suspected of having robbed a seafood shop.

The incident was filmed in the neighbourhood of San Lorenzo in the city of Zumpago located in the central Mexican state of Mexico after 10 thieves on five motorbikes reportedly robbed a local seafood shop.

In the video, a young woman is seen lying on the ground while nursing her right leg, reportedly injured when she was caught by members of the public, as a man in a blood-soaked T-shirt pleads with the angry mob standing over him.

While at least two police officers stand nearby, mob members are seen repeatedly hitting the young suspects.

The beaten man sobs: “Do not hit me anymore.”

When a woman in a pink top starts kicking the female suspect, she says: “Not my leg, please!”

The male suspect then cradles the sobbing woman in his arms as they lie in a pool of their own blood.

According to local media, the police arrested the suspected thieves although it is unclear if they have been charged.
