This is the shocking moment a motorist reverses in order to drive around a drunk man who collapsed on the street in front of him – leaving the car behind to run him over.

And the motorist that crushed the man’s head under his wheels on Bauman Street in the Russian city of Yekaterinburg, which is the administrative centre of the country’s Sverdlovsk Oblast region, did not even bother to stop and simply drove off.

Local media reported that the man was drunk from which seems to be backed up by the fact he staggers towards the car with his arms outstretched, and puts them on the bonnet, before toppling over onto the road and lying there prone.

The driver of the car, reportedly a Renault Logan, seems to be hoping the man will get out of the way and when he realises he has apparently fallen asleep or passed out, he simply reverses and goes round him leaving him lying in the middle of the road.

A second video, shot from a car’s dashcam, shows the vehicle manoeuvring around the man, but it suddenly comes to a stop as a woman screams. It is believed this is when the other car ran over the man’s head.

An eyewitness told local TV: “The car ran over the left side of his head.”

He died a short while later before he could be taken to hospital, according to local media.

Eyewitnesses who called police and reported what happened also provided mobile phone footage which then made its way online.

One of them said that the drunken man had been urged to leave the road by a passerby but had stubbornly refused because he was extremely drunk, and then move towards the car on the spot where he was to be fatally injured a short while later.

The traffic police of Yekaterinburg confirmed the death of a pedestrian and clarified that the driver of the car disappeared and was currently being sought.
