The incident occurred on one of the city’s route in the city of Nur-Sultan, the capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Local media reported that the passenger that had filmed the video, who was not named, had posted online to complain about the bus driver using WhatsApp and putting himself, his passengers and other road users at risk.

After an inspection conducted by the public transport company ‘Astana LRT’ it turned out that the incident occurred on 24th September in one of the city buses during working hours. The company also confirmed the claim that there were passengers on the bus at the time.

The company’s press spokesman Nauat Azanbaeva said: “The driver of route 53 was suspended from work. The driver’s data was handed over to the local police for an investigation and appropriate consequences.”
