Brazilian cops shot two robbers dead when they discovered a 200-foot tunnel leading from a warehouse to a bank.

Officers found the tunnel on the morning of 22nd December during an operation which resulted in the arrest of seven suspects as well as the death of the two others.

An eyewitness told local media: “There were many cops and everything happened so quickly, you would never have imagined there could be such a large tunnel down there.”

According to local media, the organised gang specialised in bank robberies and had dug the 197-foot tunnel from a warehouse to the central office of Banco de Brasil.

The tunnel was even equipped with fans hanging from the walls while the soil was bagged up and stored in the warehouse, according to reports.

During the operation, the police reportedly seized a Toyota Hilux pickup truck and a van.

Meanwhile, several gang members managed to flee the scene and are still wanted by the local authorities.

The seven unnamed detainees are currently being held in police custody, according to local media.

The police investigation and manhunt for the escaped suspects are ongoing.
