Circus Superhero’s Agonising Trapeze Fall

This is the amazing moment a circus Spider-Man’s spidey sense fails him as he plunges to earth from a Big Top trapeze into the audience.

Phone footage of the agonising tumble was recorded at the Circo Texas in Capivari do Sul, Brazil, on 8th March.

Acrobat Joel da Silva, 36 is seen swinging backwards and forwards as he sits on the trapeze bar dressed as the iconic web-slinging superhero.

But as he leans back to swing by his legs he suddenly loses his grip and is sent plummeting around 40 feet to earth.

He hits the ground hard just inches away from children watching the show as the crowd gasps in shock.

Audience members and circus stewards rush to help him as da Silva lies motionless on the ground as the footage ends.

Miraculously he survived the fall thanks apparently to the fact that he landed on soft, spongy grass.

Photos show da Silva on a paramedics’ stretcher wearing a neckbrace as he grimaces in pain just before he was rushed to hospital.

Medics treated him for bruised ribs and injuries to his leg but astonishingly he did not break any bones, according to local media.

Speaking to local media about why there was no safety net, da Silva later said: “It is not possible to install a safety net.

“I’m 1.70 metres tall. If there was a net and I was upside down, there wouldn’t be any room to do my act.”
