This is the moment a child who was purchasing fizzy drunks with his pals steps onto the store refrigerator, causing the machine to fall down on him.

CCTV footage of the incident which happened on May 14th, was taken in a store in the city of Huizhou, Guangdong province, China.

It was later uploaded to Douyin, China’s version of TikTok.

Footage shows four children, one boy and three girls gathered around the fridges of the grocery store, attempting to choose a drink.

The boy is seen attempting to grab something at the back of the fridge.

One of the girls who was also trying to choose a drink, attempts to reach the top shelf of the fridge by stepping on one of the ledges.

The boy, seeing her action, decides to scale the machine.

The ensuing weight causes the fridge to lose its balance, tumbling down on the boy, while the girl is seen barely able to escape.

As the footage ends, the owner is seen lifting the fridge from the boy, unveiling a pile of drinks that have now fallen from the fridge.

The boy appears not to have suffered any serious injuries.

Many netizens took to Douyin with opinions regarding the incident.

While some criticised the child for its behaviour, others were quick to slam the store owner for the improperly secured fridge.

User titled “My heart will go on” commented: “If this was the case when we were young, if the boss found the parents, the parents would definitely beat up the baby! In today’s society, 90% of these situations are caused by the parents finding the boss to claim compensation!”

While user “rising sun” commented: “To be honest, I saw a lot of this, and the refrigerator collapsed as soon as it was pulled. Personally, I think there is something wrong with the refrigerator!”
