This is the moment a cheeky dog takes a tinkle on a mayor while she gives an inaugural speech on a new building.

Mayor Susana Prieto’s speech was not as kindly received as she would have liked it to be when she opened the new building in the Argentine town of Maimara on the evening of 23rd June.

The opening of the new facility was supposed to be a very special occasion, as it will allow residents to be able to complete official paperwork in town without having to travel elsewhere.

The inauguration was live-streamed on Facebook and shows Prieto talking into a microphone and standing alongside a number of officials.

The footage shows how one particular resident – a dog – was seemingly unimpressed by the event and canters over to the speaking mayor, lifts its rear leg and takes a brief tinkle on her.

The clip shows how the politician from the Primero Jujuy (Jujuy [Province] First) party, despite getting wet, soldiers on with her speech while the offending pooch nonchalantly trots off.

The video swiftly went viral on social media, racking up tens of thousands of views and hundreds of comments from amused netizens.

Twitter user ‘NefariusI’ took the side of the pooch, commenting: “Even dogs understand better than Argentines what politicians are worth.”

Twitter user ‘minombreaca’, on the other hand, was one of the few who felt sorry for the politician, writing: “I’ve just come to express my support for the mayor as another victim of dog p*ss. Yes, twice dogs have p*ssed on me while I was sat in a square.”

Netizen ‘LadyGordiva_’ commented: “I don’t think he voted for her.”
