This is the moment a bundle of canvas flies off a lorry on a busy motorway and smashes into an SUV windscreen.

Dashcam video from the Toyota SUV belonging to Mr Mo shows him travelling on the Hangzhou Bay Ring Expressway when the bundle of green nylon canvas is blown off the top of the heavy goods vehicle ahead.

The canvas lands with a loud crash onto the driver’s side of his windscreen, splintering and completely impeding his view of the road ahead, the video shows.

Mr Mo, who was over the city of Shaoxing in East China’s Zhejiang Province, is then forced to slowly brake and pull over into the emergency lane while numerous other vehicles race past him on 21st September.

Fortunately, the motorway scare did not result in a second accident, with both Mr Mo’s SUV and the lorry driven by Mr Wang safely pulling over on the hard shoulder.

Mr Mo recalled: “I was in the middle lane when the thing fell onto my car with a loud bang.

“I checked for cars, braked, put on my turn signal lights and started making my way to the hard shoulder.”

Mr Wang admitted to Shaoxing traffic police that he had not tied down the bundle of waterproof canvas, which had been placed on top of his lorry at the time of the accident.

The authorities said Mr Wang was found solely liable for the incident and received a 200-RMB (22 GBP).

Mr Mo’s Toyota repairs are expected to be covered by his insurance firm.
