This video shows police and firefighters rescuing a young boy who found himself trapped on a ledge outside a residential tower block while playing hide-and-seek.

The unnamed seven-year-old from Yuhang District in the coastal city of Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang Province in East China, was playing with two other neighbours when the incident happened on 8th March.

According to local authorities, the boy’s parents were busy in their shop downstairs and the boy locked himself in his home while playing hide-and-seek with the two other children.

Minutes later, he climbed out a fourth-floor window and walked along an air-conditioning unit before he reached the narrow building ledge and could go no further.

He was spotted by concerned residents who called the local Donghe Police Station.

Footage shows policeman Hu Suliang arriving to find the boy petrified while standing in the nook overlooking witnesses on the ground.

He and others gained access to the boy’s home, and he managed to tie a rope around the boy’s body before members of the fire service arrived, the police reported.

The dramatic video shows a fireman later lifting the seven-year-old to safety.

The authorities said he was not harmed.
