Boy Falls Down Well As He Takes A Throw-In

This is the moment a young boy falls into a drainage well and disappears from sight as he goes to take a throw-in during an under-8’s match as horrified spectators scream.

The youngster, who has not been named was playing in the quarter-finals of the Integration Cup Championship Under-8 at the Melgar Stadium located in Arequipa, Peru’s second-most-populous city when he went to take a throw-in.

In the video, the ball can be seen going out of play when the youngster runs to retrieve to take a throw-in.

He goes to kick the ball he steps on the drain of a well and it flips up, opening a hole which the youngster falls down and out of sight.

Fans can be heard screaming and one woman sprints towards the hole, reportedly a drainage well used for the stadium’s running tracks.

The fans can be heard screaming as the screen turns black and a man can be heard saying “calm, calm”.

Local media report the boy was able to get out of the well without sustaining any injuries with the help of the referee, his teammates and the coach.

Local media report Sergio Bolliger, chief of IPD-Arequipa, the administrative branch of the stadium, “regretted the unfortunate event” and says they are investigating the incident and “whoever is found responsible will be treated with a firm hand”.

The investigation is ongoing.
