A female politician who was also a doctor who helped the poor has been kidnapped and murdered along with her 23-year-old daughter by crooks who then dumped their bodies in the street.
The lifeless bodies of Dr Ruth Alamilla Olguin and her daughter Maggy Alamilla were found hours later after they were abducted while leaving the gym on the morning of 21st September.
Their bodies were found next to an oil well in Tihuatlan, Mexico, and had several gunshot wounds and were blindfolded. Their hands and feet were tied up and there was reportedly a carboard box placed next to Ruth, with the words: “This happened to me for being a traitor.”
Ruth, who also acts the municipal Health director, was reportedly leaving the gym with her daughter when five hooded men stopped them and forced them inside two double-cabin white trucks.
Witnesses alerted authorities and police immediately rushed to the scene, while the criminals fled.
The discovered remains were taken for autopsies. Although the authorities have not yet confirmed their identities, it is believed that the bodies belong to both women because they were wearing the same sports clothes that they were wearing in the morning.
Ruth was well-known in her community, not only because she served as the local Health director, but also because she was known for her altruistic work.
According to the community, Ruth conducted various health campaigns, both in her official capacity and on a personal level. She specialised in limb rehabilitation for cases of gangrene.
The “People’s doctor” as she became known, had allegedly received threats previously.
The Attorney General’s Office of the State of Puebla (FGE) said the motive behind the double homicide is currently unknown, although the involvement of organised crime is not ruled out due to the message.
