Kids Summer Camp Leader Who Stabbed Peer To Death During Row About Who Was Better At Their Job Given 7 Years

A kids’ summer camp leader who stabbed a peer to death during a drunken argument about who was the best at the job has been sentenced to seven years in prison.

While being questioned by the police in the aftermath of the crime, 23-year-old Alexandra Osipova could not immediately recall what had possessed her to stab her peer 20 times at the children’s summer camp in the village of Dobroye near the Russian capital, Moscow, on 22nd June, as she was drunk at the time.

Her roommate at the camp, 21-year-old Alla Filatova, bled to death at the scene. Both young women were university students, and the killing was not witnessed by the children.

The fatal incident started out as a verbal argument, believed to be over which of the two young women was the better camp leader, when the peers were drinking after lights out.

However, the row quickly escalated into a fight, with Osipova grabbing a knife and repeatedly stabbing the other woman.

In initial reports, the young woman was said to have stabbed her peer three times. However, prosecution spokeswoman Natalia Grigorieva has since revealed the camp leader, in fact, meted out 20 knife wounds to her rival.

Following the incident, shocked parents who went to pick up their children questioned why alcohol was permitted at the camp for youngsters.

Osipova was found guilty of murder and will serve her sentence, which was reported on Tuesday, 7th December, by the Moscow Oblast public prosecutor’s office, in an ordinary-regime penal colony.
