This is the shocking moment a bloodied young man with a knife protruding from his stomach is stopped from climbing on a motorbike to drive to hospital and instead is given a lift by cops.
Kalpesh Raba, aged 20, was reportedly stabbed during a large brawl in the city of Nagpur in the western Indian state of Maharashtra on the night of Sunday 6th June.
Despite being stabbed, he managed to run a short distance before a friend took him on his motorbike to a police station some 500 metres (0.3 miles) away from the scene of the crime.
He arrived at the police station with the knife handle still protruding from his stomach, and he was then seen trying to climb back onto the motorbike, running the risk of more injury, as the knife could easily have been disturbed by him riding pillion passenger.
Instead of the risky venture, he was given a lift to a nearby hospital by cops.
The clip was filmed by a local on his mobile phone as the young man waited outside the police station for help.
The footage shows how he manages to remain calm despite being bloodied and having the knife lodged in his stomach.
At the time of reporting, Kalpesh was said to be recovering in hospital following an operation. According to the police, the cause of the brawl was an “old rivalry”.
Police officers arrested nine people over the violent incident, and a criminal case has been opened against the man who stabbed Kalpesh.
Another young man, named as Kunal Waghmare, was also stabbed in the back during the fight. He was also taken to hospital and underwent surgery.
Proceedings against the suspects are ongoing.
