This is the heartwarming moment a mum who collects waste paper from the garbage takes a break to create a makeshift swing between two rubbish bins for her daughter to have some fun.

It is presumed the mother had to take the girl with her while collecting paper in the north-western Turkish province of Istanbul and did not have time to spend with her at the park, as seen in the footage that was widely shared on social media last week.

According to local media, the mother, whose name was not reported, earns a living working as a waste paper collector in the area and decided to entertain her daughter while on the job last week.

In the footage, viewed over 130,000 times on Twitter, the mother is seen pushing her daughter on the makeshift swing she set up between two wheelie bins.

Netizens had a lot to say about the heartwarming clip, with Twitter user ‘Ferdi Bayram’ commenting: “This is a woman who tries to be happy on her own terms and wants to make her child happy. I wish everyone was like her.”

Netizen ‘Sati Koc’ said: “A child is a child, what does she understand about poverty? The child wants fun, wants to go to the park, wants to eat delicious things, and wants to dress in beautiful clothes. This child’s mother is trying to give her child the best she can. She is the best.”

However, not everyone was endeared by the images. ‘EquinoX’ wrote: “She is obviously fooling people. She doesn’t even collect paper. She just takes the child around with her and makes sure she looks sad by slapping her a few times, and once you come across them, you feel sorry for them and give them some cash. You are all idiots! The city is full of parks.”

‘Cagrigungenn’ said: “Those who watch this video and get upset, how sensitive and stupid you are. Every hundred metres there are free parks where children can play.”
