This footage shows an arguing couple who called the police after he threw her pricey Gucci bag a few feet away only to discover it had vanished moments later.
The unnamed young couple were in Xuanwu District in Nanjing, capital of China’s eastern Jiangsu Province, when the quarrel broke out on a pavement.
CCTV camera footage dated 12th September shows the girlfriend having taken off the Gucci bag – thought to have been bought as a gift by her partner – before her boyfriend tosses the rucksack about 6 feet away in a fit of anger.
As the pair argue, a male passer-by who reportedly rode over on a bicycle spots the pricey rucksack and can be seen inspecting it before allegedly claiming it as his own.
The couple said they stopped arguing when, five minutes later, they found the Gucci rucksack missing.
The boyfriend told arriving police from the Meiyuan Xincun Police Station: “We left it in front of this pharmacy and were standing by the side of the road no more than 2 metres (6 feet) away.
“Someone took it.”
Officer Ding Zuren said: “There was a shopping card charged with over 12,000 (1,355 GBP) inside, as well as a watch and other personal items.”
The authorities said they tracked down the cyclist later the same day and recovered the couple’s Gucci bag and other belongings.
It is unclear whether the passer-by would be charged with theft or illegal possession.
