The killer stepmum who allegedly suffocated her boyfriend’s eight-year-old son after he called her “ugly” has begged for forgiveness from “Spain and God Almighty” for what she has done.

According to local media, defendant Ana Julia Quezada admitted to the court that she killed eight-year-old Gabriel Cruz in the municipality of Nijar in the southern Spanish province of Almeria by covering his mouth, but that his death was unintentional.

The 45-year-old woman from the Dominican Republic reportedly killed her boyfriend’s young son on 27th February, 2018.

Despite pleading not guilty, Quezada has asked “Spain and God Almighty” to forgive her for her involvement in Cruz’s death.

During the trial, which started on 9th September, the defendant said: “First of all, I need to ask for forgiveness from Gabriel’s family and every person I might have hurt with my actions.

“I also want to ask for forgiveness from my daughter and entire family, to everyone who feels bad for what I’ve done. In general, to all of Spain and God Almighty who I hope will forgive me.”

She previously said on court: “I did not want to harm the child, I wanted him to be quiet. I did not want to kill the boy.”

Quezada claimed that the boy approached her brandishing an axe and calling her “ugly”.

When he allegedly said he did not want her to be with his dad, she covered his mouth.

She explained: “I used both hands, the right (hand) was definitely over his mouth, the left one I don’t know.

“When I let him go, I placed my hand on his chest and he wasn’t breathing.”

Reports said that the defendant then dug a hole and buried the victim’s body, but she later dug up the corpse and it was found in her car after a 12-day search.

Quezada, who was in relationship with the victim’s father Angel Cruz, even pretended to actively look for the child when he went missing.

According to the family’s lawyer Fernando Torres, the young boy was still alive for between 45 and 90 minutes after allegedly being smothered by the defendant.

The trial is ongoing.

Netizen ’69000’ commented: “You have killed a child in cold blood. You don’t get forgiveness, not from people or God.”
