Becker revealed how he had ignored that advice in a new documentary where he said he had wanted to have one more final night out with the boys on the day his professional tennis career officially ended.

The star had recently lost his father, and after losing in Wimbledon in the fourth round to Patrick Rafter in 1999, decided that that would be the last professional game he ever played.

He admitted that he had already started to lose interest in tennis and also had problems off court with his wife Barbara Feltus, and the German taxman.

Speaking about that fateful day when he had gone home to his mother and wife on 30th June 1999, the 55-year-old said he never imagined it was also the day that he fathered his daughter Anna, now aged 23.

In the documentary “Boom! Boom! – The World vs. Boris Becker” he reveals that he had planned to step down from tennis in order to look after his family, his son Noah was five years old, and Barbara was pregnant at the time with their second son Elias who was born eight weeks later.

He was also caring for his mother who was mourning the loss of Boris’s father who died earlier in the year in April following a long illness.

Speaking on the documentary he said: “I wanted to say goodbye to my trainer and my team.

“My pregnant wife and my mother staying in the hotel.

“I told them that in the morning I would be a good husband and father, but I insisted that on that day was going to celebrate my last day as a tennis player.”

As a result, he had gone to the London restaurant Nobu and a few hours later was drinking his first beer without his mother or his wife.

Barbara Becker also speaks in the documentary saying: “His mother was dressed in black because she was recently widowed, and he simply went off and left us. I realise then that I didn’t know him. I have thought we were a team.”

For his part, Boris said: “I had a long chat with my mum on the balcony and I said to her look mum, you just don’t understand things. I just want to celebrate one last time with my lads.”

He said that his mother and then looked at him and said: “Boris, just don’t do anything stupid.”

However, the warning was clearly ignored, because after a few drinks he had headed off to the broom cupboard with Angela, and nine months later his daughter was born.

Speaking about the sex act, he would only say: “We went in the back, we had sex, then went back to my team. My lads paid the bill, and I went back to the hotel.”

He said he never had any other contact with Angela Ermakova until he got a fax eight months later asking for a meeting, where she had told him that he was the father of her child.

Now 23 years old, Becker’s daughter Anna Ermakova is a celebrity in her own right and taking part in the German language shown “Let’s dance” where she is currently the favourite to win.
