This is the moment the emergency services attend a burning yacht at Dubai Marina as the distressed vessel sends black smoke high across the cityscape.

The incident was filmed at Dubai Marina near the city of the same name in northern United Arab Emirates and fire crews were sent to the scene to tack the blaze, which reportedly sent plastic-smelling smoke into the air.

According to local media, onlookers had to cover their faces as firefighters doused the burning yacht was anchored at the southern end of the marina.

Reports said that workers in plainclothes assisted fire crews by directing hoses at the vessel.

As the water doused the yacht, black smoke bellowed into the sky and obscured the vessel, fire crews and nearby buildings. Parts of the marina remained closed for over an hour as firefighters battled the flames.

The marina developer Emaar said in a statement that there had been no injuries and that the yacht has been moved to a secure location.

Meanwhile, the Dubai Civil Defence also confirmed that there had been injuries and that fire crews eventually brought the blaze under control.

The cause of the fire is still unknown and an investigation is underway.
