This beautiful five-year-old girl has died after her family car was hit head-on by a drink driver.
The fatal accident took place on the BR-280 motorway in the municipality of Rio Negrinho in the Brazilian state of Santa Catarina at around 6am on 19th December.
The car was hit head-on by the allegedly drunk Fiat Punto driver while the family was travelling to the municipality of Ita to celebrate the victim’s grandmother’s 70th birthday.

The driver reportedly crossed into the opposite lane and hit the mother’s car head-on.
When rescuers arrived on the scene, they found the victim, named as Alicia Bindemann Carini, in her mother’s lap with serious head injuries.
The mother, identified as Michelle Bindemann, 39, said the girl was strapped into her seat at the time of the accident, however firefighters suspect the seatbelt was not properly secured due to her head injuries.

The mother and daughter were taken to hospital, however the young girl succumbed to her injuries shortly afterwards.
In the other vehicle, as well as the driver, there were three other men who also required hospital treatment.
According to the police, the 30-year-old Fiat driver took a breathalyser test eight hours after the accident and was still found to be over the limit.

The man reportedly admitted to drinking alcohol at an event he was returning home from with friends when the accident happened.
A relative told local media: “Alicia was so little, a beautiful princess. Michelle Bindemann (mother) will need a lot of strength to get over this.”
Meanwhile, the young girl’s funeral took place at around 11.30am on 20th December at the Parque Jardim das Flores Cemetery in the municipality of Joinville.

The investigation continues.
