This is the moment a motorist puts his foot down and speeds off as a menacing bear suddenly runs towards him when he stopped to say ‘hi’ with a pal.

The bear was spotted foraging for food in the urban area of Sarialan near Mount Uludag in the north-western Turkish province of Bursa.

According to local reports, bear sightings in the area have increased as they roam the streets looking to raid rubbish bins for leftover food.

Two men, names not disclosed, were passing two overturned rubbish containers in a car when they spotted one bear foraging for food.

In the footage, one of the men seems surprised to see the bear as his pal slows down for him to say ‘hi’ to the stocky animal.

However, the bear looks over and immediately starts charging at the men, forcing them to speed away while laughing at their lucky escape.

In the second video, filmed moments beforehand, the man is heard shouting to the animal as it shakes the rain from its fur and forages for food among the scattered rubbish bags.

According to local reports, a father bear and three cubs were spotted in the area on the night in question. The bear family disappeared into a nearby forest after raiding the rubbish containers.

It is unclear if the local authorities are taking any action to prevent the reported increase in bear sightings in the area.
