Bakersfield Police Release Tense Footage Of Deadly Shootout

This dramatic footage shows a tense shootout between officers in California and an armed suspect they were chasing.

Body-worn footage captured the incident, which reportedly occurred in Bakersfield, California, on 20th December 2022.

The Bakersfield Police Department (BPD) recently released the footage to shed light on the drama that unfolded near the railroad tracks at Madison Street and East Belle Terrace.

Officers arrived at the scene after receiving reports of an armed man causing a disturbance and confronted the suspect.

But as soon as they approached the man tried to flee while pointing a gun at officers.

An officer-involved shooting began, which ended with the suspect being fatally struck by the multiple rounds fired off by at least eight cops.

Paramedics arrived and pronounced the man dead at the scene.

A handgun and a knife were reportedly recovered at the scene.

BPD stated that early investigations suggest the suspect discarded his firearm after the first shooting and was holding a knife when confronted on Daniels Lane.

Police Chief Greg Terry reiterated the department’s commitment to providing timely and accurate information about police shootings while maintaining accountability and professionalism.

The investigation is ongoing.
