This is the moment a French brazenly baker throws his plastic rubbish into a river unaware that he is being filmed by a neighbour.

The incident took place in the city of Nantes in the western French department of Loire as the baker threw the rubbish into the Chezine river which flows into the Loire.

In the video, the baker can be seen throwing the rubbish which includes plastic, food, and carboard into the water before turning and walking away.

The woman recording then says: “I’m warning you, I’m putting this on social media. You’re finished.”

The baker just tells her to “do what you have to do” and she replies: “But you’ve got rubbish bins, for God’s sake. Are you being ridiculous or what? A box in the Chezine (river).”

When the baker asks her if she was seen rubbish bins in the area she replies: “Yes, but have you seen the box, the plastic? Would someone do that to you in your own garden?”

The woman then threatens to call the health department, calling the baker’s actions “unacceptable” and adding”you’re completely out of your mind!

The baker simply replies “call them then”.

Netizens were outraged with the clip, with one user sharing the video with the caption: “To share please. All the National Health Safety Agency. It’s to point out this bakery manager who, without any concern for waste and even less for the environment, throws everything: plastic, food, and cardboard in the Chezine (NANTES)! “

The National Confederation of French Bakery and Pastry also reacted by noting the man’s “unacceptable behaviour”.

For its part, the Nantes administration promised to “rapidly alert the competent services to prevent such a situation”.

It is unclear if the man has been sanctioned.
