A South African pastor has raised eyebrows by charging nearly GBP 1,000 “to see God in heaven”.

A flyer advertising the services of pastor “M. S. Budeli” has been doing the rounds after it was posted online.

The flyer, titled ‘Worship Conference. Special prayers with pastor M. S. Budeli’ offers a number of baffling services.

Besides meeting God for ZAR 20,000 (GBP 940), the churchman also offers “to cancel all your debts” for ZAR 5,000 (GBP 240).

He further professes to be able “to get [you] married tomorrow” for ZAR 10,000 (GBP 470) and “to protected in crime” (sic) for ZAR 20,000.

His other bizarre claims are “to see your future in your phone”, also for ZAR 20,000, and “to win aviator game” for a whopping ZAR 300,000 (GBP 14,000).

‘Aviator’ is an online casino game.

Budeli’s conference will allegedly take place on Christmas Day from 6am to 6pm.

The location was not disclosed. However, he included a phone number in the flyer, presumably for those seeking more information.

South African media report that crooks posing as church ministers and conning religious believers out of their savings have become a big problem in the country.

In one publicised case, a 47-year-old pastor from North West allegedly defrauded churchgoers out of ZAR 3 million (GBP 140,000).

Prosecutors charged Seth Malefetsane Radebe with fraud in 2021 after members of his congregation lost their ‘investments’ in his company Sanctuary Haven Properties.

The churchgoers’ investments, made in 2013, were never returned.

Radebe, meanwhile, was released from custody after posting a bail bond of ZAR 10,000 (GBP 470).
