This footage – seen over 15 million times online – shows a woman being thrown to the floor and repeatedly kicked for accidentally touching another lady’s handbag.

The incident was captured in full by CCTV inside in the business in the city of Yingde, which is in Guangdong Province in South China, on 16th October.

The suspect, who police have not named, is seen standing by the counter waiting to settle her bill when a second female customer approaches to pay for her drink.

In the video, the second woman accidentally brushes past the first’s handbag, but the two do not exchange words until about 15 seconds later when the apparently offended customer angrily slams her bill on the counter.

She then shoves the other woman to the floor by pushing her face, and kicks her in the chest when she tries to stand up again.

This happens in front of shocked staff members as nearby customers who do not intervene.

The footage shows the victim confronting the suspect, who immediately responds by slapping her and performing a judo-like over-shoulder throw, slamming the second woman back onto the floor.

As the victim gets her things and leaves the tea house without paying, she stomps on the victim and appears to throw an ashtray at her.

The victim records the suspect as she walks away, but the injured customer does not give chase as the video ends.

Yingde police said the suspect was summoned and jailed for 15 days on a public order charge.

The pair do not know each other, and, despite much speculation online, the fight was not caused by the victim attempting to queue-jump, they added.

The authorities said the altercation was started by the victim accidentally brushing against the suspect’s handbag while paying, and apparently failing to apologise for it.

They added that the victim was not seriously injured but did require a check-up at a local hospital.
