A fraudster who tried to stage a fake car accident so he could claim compensation has become a laughing stock over his terrible acting.

The hapless conman was filmed trying to set up the crash on a road in Kowloon, Hong Kong.

In the footage, a man in a white T-shirt wanders along the middle of the road forcing a black car to slow down to a walking pace.

As the pedestrian staggers towards the car the suspicious driver stops and even turns on his hazard lights.

Undeterred, the would-be conman walks around the car, apparently trying to encourage him to move forward.

When he does not, the man in the T-shirt walks up and down in front of the car before hurling himself to one side, as if he had been hit.

Then he rolls across the bonnet of the car before collapsing on the road apparently in agony clutching his chest while pointing at the car.

Another video, posted on social media, shows the dashcam footage of the car with a close-up scene of the man’s excruciatingly bad acting.

The driver -named only as Henry in local media – said passers-by helped take the man away and that he “felt the love of Hongkongers”.

He also said in an interview that he called the cops but they did nothing.

The unusual videos have become viral and many netizens have made fun of the man and his “performance”, as reported in local media.

Others have criticized the inaction of the police in these “fake incident scams”.

These types of staged accidents are usual in mainland China but are very rare in Hong Kong.
