A cruel stepmother has finally been jailed for killing her husband’s toddler son by placing him in a bath filled with boiling hot water.

The defendant, name not disclosed, killed the two-year-old victim after a heated row with her husband in an unspecified area of Jordan on 1st October 2018.

The father asked her to take care of his two children, aged 4 and 2, from another relationship and a row ensued.

She then decided to “take revenge” for being forced to care for the kids by killing her husband’s toddler son, according to court files.

The court heard that the murder was the last step in a catalogue of abuse of the kids by the woman with court papers noting that she “would often beat up the children and mistreat them”.

The court has now ruled that it was accepted that the stepmother poured boiling water into a bathtub and put the two-year-old boy inside.

She removed him when the youngster started screaming, and he was taken to a nearby hospital with first degree burns, according to the court papers.

The boy died a fortnight later from his injuries.

The defendant was provisionally sentenced jail in November 2019 by a lower court and her legal team challenged the ruling.

Jordan’s Supreme Court has now upheld a 20-year sentence, ruling that the defendant was handed the appropriate sentence for killing the boy.
