The boyfriend of this woman has been arrested for killing her before leaving her in a flat with the air conditioner on to stop the corpse from smelling.

The body of Ukrainian-Turkish woman Karina Demchenko, 40, was found in a flat on the first floor of a building in the district of Muratpasa located in the Turkish city of Antalya on 14th December.

Her body was found after family members failed to contact the victim and started to reach out to her friends hoping they could get a hold of her.

The city where her relatives live has not been reported.

The family eventually managed to reach a person living in the same city who called the police after he also failed to reach Demchenko.

Authorities later found her body on the floor of a flat with the air conditioning set on high. It is unclear if the flat was her residence.

Upon investigation, police found Demchenko had been dead for 10 days before they found her body and her cause of death was strangulation allegedly carried out by her boyfriend Erhan Razi, 40.

Police detained Razi on the same day they found the body. He confessed to killing Demchenko out of jealousy and said he left the air conditioner on to leave the room cold enough so that the body did not smell.

The suspect told police he loved Demchenko very much and the two planned to get married, however, there have been no reports on the exact reason he allegedly strangled her.
