Hubby Stabs Wife To Death For Refusing To Move Back To Home Country

A Romanian man has been arrested in Italy for stabbing his wife to death and attempting to burn her body after she refused to move back to their home country.

Madalina Luminita, 32, was murdered at her home in the commune of Capalbio in Italian region of Tuscany on the morning of 7th December.

Her husband, 39-year-old Adrian Luminita, confessed to the crime and admitted to stabbing his wife at least 10 times during a row because she refused to move back with him to their native Romania, according to reports.

Mr Luminita, who hails from the north-eastern Romanian city of Botosani, had grown tired of his life in Italy.

Reports said that he admitted his guilt from hospital in the nearby city of Siena where he has been treated since the day of the crime.

The suspect reportedly suffered burn injuries while attempting to set fire to the annex of the plush Villa Tonci where the couple worked as custodians in an apparent attempt to burn the victim’s body.

According to his lawyer Paolo Malasoma, Mr Luminita was wounded by a knife in his throat and abdomen, suggesting there was a fight between the couple before the alleged stabbing.

The suspect has been formally arrested on suspicion of femicide and remains under police guard in hospital as the investigation continues.
