A 17-year-old Turkish girl who ran away from home died after being shot when a scuffle broke out between her new friends who then abandoned her lying in the street and ran away, fearing that they would be arrested.

Cemile Senel, 17, died in hospital after she was shot when an argument broke out between her friends in Istanbul, Turkey on Monday (6th September).

News site Bursada Bugun reports that the teen was with a group of five on the street outside one of their homes when an argument broke out between them and one of them pulled out a gun.

Cemile tried to calm the situation down by putting herself in the middle of the arguing friends, but the gun went off and hit the 17-year-old in the armpit.

All five members of the group including the unidentified shooter ran off leaving Cemile to bleed out on the street as they were worried they would be blamed for the shooting.

The emergency services arrived on the scene and transferred Cemile to the hospital, where she died shortly after arriving.

The girl’s family claims that they had filed six missing person reports after the girl reportedly spent time in jail for an undisclosed crime and then ran away from home.

Four of the five-member of the group have been taken into custody whilst the shooter is still on the run.

Bursada Bugun reports that the police believe that Cemile was shot accidentally by a shooter who was arguing with another member of the group when the teen tried to intervene and stop them arguing.
