A Facebook predator who posed as a woman has been jailed for only 4 years for tricking eight minors as young as 13 into having sex with him.
According to local media, 34-year-old Angelo Anwyll Goh Hao-Yi has been sentenced to four years and 10 months in jail for having sex with eight minors aged between 13 and 17 by a Singapore court.
On Facebook, the sales engineer posed as woman named ‘Vacinta Koh’ to befriend young girls before encouraging them to work as escorts.
The Singaporean defendant sent them friend requests and if accepted, he would write a message asking if they were interested in making “quick money” of between 100 (57) and 200 SGD (114 GBP) an hour.
Reports said that the defendant would coax the young girls into prostituting themselves by claiming there was a “strict vetting process” that only accepted male clients who were “young, not-ugly and rich” and had regular health checks.
Minors were also told that “age was not an issue” before arranging to meet them for sex.
During the trial, prosecutor Tan Pei Wei told the judge: “If the girl agreed, the accused would purport to arrange for them to meet a client who was, in truth, the accused.”
He would then arrange to meet them in person before having sex in discreet places such as his car or residence when no one else was at home.
The defendant abused eight girls aged between 13 and 17, having unprotected sex with most of them.
The 34-year-old Singaporean also filmed some of the encounters.
The crimes were committed between September 2016 and April 2018.
Reports said that the defendant is currently out on bail of 30,000 SGD (17,220 GBP) and he will surrender himself to the state authorities on 14th November to start his prison sentence. He reportedly wanted to spend some time with his family before beginning his sentence.
The defendant faced 20 years in prison for penetrating a minor under 14.
