This is the moment more than 30 large pigs run amok on a motorway after a farmer’s lorry overturns.

The crash was captured by a traffic camera on the Liyang-Ningde Expressway over the city of Lishui in China’s eastern province of Zhejiang.

The footage dated 5th July shows the farmer’s lorry wobbling side to side and skidding along the wet surface before it overturns onto its side.

The 31 frightened pigs were spooked by the accident and ended up running all over the motorway junction, halting traffic for over an hour.

The driver, Mr Ye, was not harmed during the crash. He told police he had been driving too fast and was unable to slow down at the bend.

Video from the motorway shows police officers having sealed off the route from traffic while helping Mr Ye catch his livestock.

The unusual operation saw the large hogs loaded onto another lorry.

Mr Ye said one of his pigs died during the accident, while another was injured.

The crash cost him 4,000 RMB (463 GBP), but fortunately the majority of his pigs were unharmed.

Lishui police did not say whether they would fine Mr Ye for speeding or dangerous driving.
