A recently-crowned school beauty queen has died after accidentally crashing through a glass door at the venue of her 15th birthday party.

According to local media, young Yuliana Gabriela Florentin’s birthday party ended in tragedy when she succumbed to her injuries on the way to hospital.

Reports said the teenager’s family and friends were waiting for her at the party venue in the municipality of Puerto Esperanza located in the north-eastern Argentine province of Misiones when the incident happened.

A couple of hours earlier, partygoers had surprised the birthday girl by throwing flour and eggs over her and she had to return home to clean up.

When she returned to the party venue, she took a different route to the main hall and accidentally walked through a large double-glazed door she thought was open, according to local media.

Reports said that large shards pierced various parts of her body and the teenager was rushed to hospital in shock from severe blood loss.

Medics at the Hospital of Puerto Esperanza stabilised the birthday girl, but she died while being transferred to the Hospital Samic for further treatment, according to local media.

Reports said the most severe injuries were to her abdomen and pelvic area although the local authorities have requested that Florentin’s body undergo an autopsy to establish the exact cause of death.

The local police inspected the party venue and have reportedly gathered glass shards to be used in the ongoing investigation.

Meanwhile, the 15-year-old girl’s classmates have left a series of touching tributes to their friend on social media.

Earlier this month, Florentin was crowned the Student Beauty Queen at her high school, according to reports.
