Lucky Man Survives When His Parachute Gets Tangled During Jump

This is the moment a parachutist gets the scare of his life when his parachute gets tangled but he luckily survives after he activates the reserve.

Alberto Vinicius, dubbed Albertinho, got the scare as he was doing a parachute jumping in Aracaju, Sergipe, Brazil, on 17th March.

Alberto, who has been a skydiver for six years and has around 170 jumps behind, faced the danger during a jump as part of a celebration of the city’s 169 anniversary.

The tense footage recorded by Alberto’s helmet shows the moment the parachute got tangled.

Alberto is seen struggling before he finally manages to activate the reserve parachute and continue his decent safely.

After the parachute failed to open completely, Alberto had to disconnect the main equipment and activate the reserve.

However, he said he was not scared and added: “We train a lot on this and emergency procedures.

“So, at this time, just do what you know.”

Alberto said that skydiving is quite safe and incidents like his are rare.

He said: “I’ve been in the sport for six years and this happened for the first time.

“There are people with more than a thousand jumps who have never needed to use the reserve.

“The equipment is there as a precaution, but it’s like a health plan: we pay to not use it.

“But If we need it, we know it’s there.”

Alberto said his family did not panic about the video and added: “I don’t use Instagram much and I just posted it to show how it was. I thought it was funny.

“But after it went viral and everyone was commenting, I immediately told my mother because I knew it could spread.

“She’s very calm and just joked that my time has almost come.”
