This is the remarkable moment a fireman frees a cat after it got stuck in a tilted window.

Drone footage obtained by Newsflash shows how a firefighter was hoisted towards the fourth-floor window of an apartment building in the city of Tulcea in the county of the same name, western Romania.

The black kitten cannot move forward or back after its belly got trapped in the gap of the turned window.

The firefighter eventually carefully pushes the unharmed cat back into the apartment.

In a statement obtained by Newsflash, the Tulcea Emergency Situations Inspectorate said about the incident from 9th April: “This morning, a call through 112 informed the dispatcher that a brave but inexperienced cat was stuck between the window and the frame of the window. It had been there for an hour or so.

They added: “A vigilant lady noticed the feline struggling to escape from the trap it had entered and decided to let us know. Said and done!”

No one was at home at the flat, say local media.

The firefighters, who announced they could not reach the tenants, urged people on social media to act more responsibly to avoid such situations in the future.

It is unclear whether the owners of the cat will be asked to pay for the intervention.

Netizens were delighted by the successful operation of the firefighters but also criticised the owners of the pet.

Social media user ‘Daniela Bodi’ said: “A responsible owner does not leave the window down with the cat in the room! There is window protection, it’s not expensive! Respect to the rescuers!”
