This is the dramatic moment a driver loses control of his car and uproots a toll station booth by crashing into it at speed and he survives.

The accident happened at the Jundu Toll Station on the Qingdao-Yinchuan Expressway in Luliang City in North China’s Shanxi Province.

Footage of the crash at 3:40am local time on 22nd January shows the otherwise silent toll road being rocked by the speeding Volkswagen saloon car.

After driving into a concrete bollard, the car is launched into the air and crashes roof first into the empty toll booth, which ends up uprooted from its spot and pushed several feet away.

The driver, who was not named, remained stuck in the VW as it slid further into the toll station, wedging itself against a second booth, which was also empty.

Authorities said the accident caused significant damage to the toll station, but no one besides the driver himself was injured during the dramatic incident.

The motorist, who has not been named, has since been taken to hospital for treatment and police are investigating the case.

It was unclear at the time of writing whether the driver had been subjected to a breathalyser test.
